Jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 released

Apple iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners will be happy to know that a jailbreak for Apple A5 chipset devices has been released. This is the first jailbreak released for the latest iPhone and iPad from Apple, the untethered jailbreaks code name is Absinthe A5.

After a jailbreak for A4 chipset iOS 5 devices was released back in December 2011, a hacking “Dream Team”had been assembled, with the mission to free A5 chipset devices from the clutches of Apple. The “Dream Team” includes well known iOS hackers iPhone Dev Team, Chronic Dev Team and pod2G, who have been working tirelessly to release the new jailbreak.

For those of you who don’t know what jailbreaking your iOS device is, you can read this great article > here, jailbreaking essentially allows you to customize your gadget and gives you access to Apple-unauthorized apps not found in the App Store, such as those available on Cydia.

The new jailbreak is available for Mac OS X and Windows PC via the GreenPois0n website, a Linux version will be released soon. One should note that jailbreaking is not endorsed by Apple, and will in most part void your warranty, with the worst case scenario of a R10,000 paper weight.
