Cell C Launches R27 BlackBerry Social and Email Plan
Local mobile operator Cell C has launhced two new BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) plans – BlackBerry Social, and BlackBerry Social and Email. Pre-paid and Top Up customers can activate the new BlackBerry service plans via USSD code *147# or via a customer service agent, BlackBerry Social is available for R27 per month and R37 per month for BlackBerry Social and Email. The two new BIS plans are available from 22 June 2012.
BlackBerry Social offers customers access to social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and other networks. The plan also includes access to one BlackBerry Email (@cellc.blackberry.com) account, Internet access, and downloads from BlackBerry App World.
BlackBerry Social and Email offers all the features of BlackBerry Social plus access to one third party e-mail account (Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail). The normal R57 BIS plan will still be available and allows up to 10 supported corporate and personal e-mail accounts in addition to all of the above features.
Earlier this week (17 June 2012) newcomer 8ta launched their new R30 BIS plan which also offered social networking, one third-party email and internet access for R30 per month and was described as “real value for money and a tailor-made offering” by Amith Maharaj, Senior Managing Executive of Telkom Mobile.
No word yet from Vodacom or MTN about new BIS plans, but one can expect an announcement sooner rather than later.
